Committee taking evidence from voluntary organisations as part of inquiry

The Communities and Culture Committee is this week taking evidence from Merched y Wawr, Clubs for Young People in Wales and Age Concern as part of its inquiry into the funding of voluntary organisations in Wales. Janice Gregory AM, Chair of the Committee said: “There are about 30,000 voluntary and other third sector organisations in Wales; with a total income of over £1 billion. The main source of income is government funding, contributing roughly a third of income to this sector. The Committee’s inquiry is gathering evidence on generic issues associated with Welsh Assembly Government funding of the voluntary sector; so that we can identify specific problems and examples of good practice – and make appropriate recommendations to the Welsh Assembly Government. “ The meeting takes place at 9.30am on Wednesday October 24 in Committee Room 1, Senedd, Cardiff Bay. Notes to editors: The Committee has issued a call for written evidence seeking views from interested parties on the following:
  • Ease or difficulty of obtaining funding from the Welsh Assembly Government or relevant national funding bodies.
  • Ease or difficulty in complying with constraints or conditions placed on funding.
  • Issues related to the duration or timing of funding.
