Equality Committee’s concern over education of gypsy traveller children

Members of the National Assembly’s Equality Committee will quiz Education Minister Jane Davidson next week about education provision for gypsy traveller children. The Committee is concerned that the recommendations in its review of services for gypsy travellers in Wales have not been implemented. For example, the Committee wanted to see better training for teachers and more grants available for specialist traveller education services. At the same meeting, the Committee will discuss the annual reports of the Disability Rights Commission and the Commission for Racial Equality. Members will also consider the progress of the Assembly Government’s childcare strategy. The meeting takes place at 9.15am, Wednesday February 28, in Committee Rooms 1&2, Senedd, Cardiff Bay.
