Finance Committee to hear evidence from unions on Public Private Partnerships

The National Assembly’s Finance Committee will this week hear evidence from the TUC and Unison as part of its inquiry into Public Private Partnerships.

The Committee wants to investigate whether more schools, hospitals and other public sector projects could be taken forward in Wales using private money and is carrying out an inquiry into Public Private Partnerships, including PFI schemes.

The Committee will also consider a methodology paper looking at how public and private sector options are compared when making a decision on whether a PPP/PFI option offers value for money over the conventional route.

Alun Cairns AM, Chair of the Committee, said: “We are carrying out a totally objective inquiry looking at whether more public-private partnerships should be used in Wales. We will be looking at all the evidence and examining it closely before making our recommendations. I am looking forward to hearing what the unions have to say.”

The meeting takes place at 10am on Thursday April 10 in Committee Room 3, Senedd. More details can be found here.
