The Llywydd of the National Assembly for Wales has taken part in a special session to mark 100 years since the first meeting of the Dáil Eireann in Dublin.
The Dáil Eireann is the Lower House or House of Representatives of the Irish Parliament.
Elin Jones AM joined speakers and presiding officers from all over Europe along with descendants of the very first members of the House for the session.
The main commemorative event took place on Monday, 21 January in the Round Room of the Mansion House in the Irish capital, followed by a State reception in Dublin castle.
"It has been an honour to be in Dublin this weekend with counterparts from parliaments across Europe and beyond to celebrate the centenary of the Dáil.
"As we in the Senedd prepare to celebrate our 20th anniversary this year, it was a pleasure to cross the Irish sea to join events to mark this milestone in the history of the Oireachtas.
"My warmest congratulations therefore, from all back home in Wales, to the Dáil Éireann on this most special of birthdays.
"The bond of friendship between our Celtic nations is well known and I hope it endures for many years to come."
The first meeting of Dáil Éireann took place on 21 January 1919.
The Dáil is the Lower House of the Oireachtas. A Dáil Member's official Irish title is "Teachta Dála" which in English means "Deputy to the Dáil". Members are generally called "TDs" or "Deputies".
The number of Dáil Members is not fixed, but the Constitution provides that there must be at least one TD for every 20,000 to 30,000 people. At present, there are 158 TDs.
