The National Assembly for Wales Finance Committee is undertaking a new inquiry into the collection of devolved taxes in Wales.

From April 2018 Wales will need to have a system for collecting and managing new Welsh taxes. Currently Land Transaction Taxes and Landfill tax will be devolved to Wales, but the Committee is keen to make sure any tax collection system is appropriate for any future devolution

In anticipation of these new responsibilities, the Committee will be looking at:
  • The most efficient organisations to collect devolved taxes in the short and longer term; and
  • The balance between the need for stability and opportunities to develop a taxes tailored for Wales in the future.
Jocelyn Davies AM Chair of the Finance Committee said: "The Committee will be seeking views on who should be responsible for the collection of Welsh taxes.

"We are inviting the people of Wales to contribute to this inquiry as we also want to hear how people think the taxes can be collected in such a way that service standards remain at a consistent level."
