Politicians under the spotlight at Ysgol Brynrefail

Year 12 Welsh Baccalaureate students from Ysgol Brynrefail, Llanrug will take part in a 'Question Time' event with a panel of politicians on Monday 9 February.

Aled Roberts AM, Alun Ffred Jones AM, Antoinette Sandbach AM and Gwynedd Councillor Sion Wyn Jones are this year's panellists, who will be questioned by the students on topics that affect their day to day lives including Health, Education and the Welsh Language.

Two pupils will chair the event, ensuring that the panel adhere to the one-minute timescale for answering questions

The event has been by organised by Mrs Catrin Jones, a teacher at the school, in conjunction with the National Assembly for Wales's North Wales Education Officer, Ann Williams.

Catrin Jones of Ysgol Brynrefail said:

"Events such as this give young people the opportunity to engage with their democratically elected representatives and challenge politicians on what they can do to improve the communities they live in.

"It gives students the chance to interact with politicians and feel part of the democratic system.''

The event will take place at the school from 11:15-12:30.
