Presiding Officer recalls National Assembly for Wales

07 December 2012

The Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales, Rosemary Butler AM, is recalling Assembly Members from their Christmas recess on Wednesday, 19 December.

The decision follows a request from the First Minister, Carwyn Jones AM, to consider two sets of regulations as a matter of urgent public importance. They are:

  • the draft The Council Tax Reduction Schemes and Prescribed Requirements (Wales) Regulations 2012; and

  • the draft The Council Tax Reduction Schemes (Default Scheme) (Wales) Regulations 2012.

β€œIn deciding to summon the Assembly on 19 December, I am seeking to balance the calls for these Regulations to be considered as a matter of urgency with the need to provide sufficient time for them to be properly scrutinised,” the Presiding Officer said.

β€œI would like to thank my Deputy Presiding Officer, David Melding AM, who has indicated, in his role as Chair of the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee, that he will do all he can to ensure that his Committee scrutinises and reports on the revised Regulations in advance of the debate.”
