Senedd to fall silent in memory of Wales’s fallen heroes

7 November 2013

The National Assembly for Wales is joining the Royal British Legion in marking Remembrance Day at the Senedd.

On Monday 11 November, the traditional two minutes’ silence will be led by Presiding Officer, Rosemary Butler AM, Deputy Presiding Officer David Melding AM, and Mr Peter Wilson, The Royal British Legion’s District Chairman for South East Wales

Proceedings will begin at 10.55 with the reading of the Exhortation in the Neuadd before the two minutes’ silence begins at 11.00.

The Presiding Officer will also lay a wreath at the Wales National War Memorial in Alexandra Gardens, Cardiff, at the National Service of Remembrance for Wales on Sunday 10 November

“We must never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of their country,” said Mrs Butler.

“We should remember those who are still risking their lives today in a region of conflict such as Afghanistan.

“Remembrance Day acts as a reminder to us all about these sacrifices and that is why the National Assembly for Wales works in partnership with the Royal British Legion.”

Members of the public are invited to observe the two minutes’ silence at the Senedd.
