The Senedd will be lit up red on the evening of Friday 10 June before Wales’ first fixture in Euro2016 against Slovakia on Saturday in support of the Wales football team.

The National Assembly for Wales will join a number of buildings across Wales to wish the Welsh team well in their first major tournament since 1958. The Assembly’s Presiding Officer, Elin Jones AM said:

“I would like to wish Chris Coleman and the Welsh team all the best. Their team’s performance in the qualifying games has inspired and excited the nation”.
“I’m sure many of us will be following the Wales team as they face their opponents in Group B, and will be hoping they can progress further in the competition”.
“So, on behalf of all Assembly Members and staff, I would like to wish the Wales team all the best ahead of their time in France”.

The Senedd will be lit on the following evenings: Friday 10 June, Wednesday 15 June and Sunday 19 June.
