In response to the judgment of the Supreme Court concerning the UK Government’s Brexit plans, the Chair of the National Assembly’s External Affairs and Additional Legislation Committee, David Rees AM, has issued the following statement.

Mr Rees said:

“I welcome today’s Supreme Court decision which will allow for proper parliamentary scrutiny of the UK Government’s plans for Brexit. It is important, however, that all the nations of the United Kingdom are given opportunities to feed into this process.

Looking ahead, I expect the Prime Minister to deliver on the commitment she made last week to true engagement with the devolved governments and legislatures. Only through doing so will the UK secure the best possible outcome during the withdrawal process.”

The External Affairs and Additional Legislation Committee will publish the findings of its report examining the impact of Brexit on Wales on Friday 27 January.
