Sustainability Committee to begin next stage of inquiry into Carbon Reduction.

The Assembly’s Sustainability Committee will take evidence from the Welsh Energy Research Centre as it continues its inquiry into Carbon Reduction in Wales at its next meeting on Wednesday June 25th.  

Kevin Mowbray from the Welsh Energy Research Centre will provide background information on Carbon reduction from electricity generation (including renewable energy) along with Professor Stuart JC Irvine, Chair of Opto-electronic Materials Chemistry, University of Wales, Bangor; Dr Ian Masters, Marine Renewable Energy, University of Wales, Swansea; Ian Draisey from Dulas Ltd; and Alex Lambie Chief Executive Officer, Welsh Power Group Ltd. This will be the first session for the fourth stage of the Committee’s Inquiry into Carbon Reduction from electricity generation.

Reports on the first two stages on residential carbon reduction and carbon reduction through transport have already been published and the report on the third stage on carbon reduction by industry and public bodies will follow later in the year.

The Committee will also consider a scoping paper on energy production.

The meeting takes place at 9.00am on Wednesday June 25th in Committee Room 1, Senedd, Cardiff Bay.
