Welsh Canoeing Association Presented Petition to Committee by Canoe

Ashley Charlwood of the Welsh Canoeing Association canoed to the Senedd to present a petitionto Val Lloyd AM, Chair of the Petitions Committee and Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas, Presiding Officer, urging the Assemblyto follow Scotland’s legislative model for public access to inland water.

Val Lloyd said: “I welcome this petition which appears to be the largest we have received to date with over 9000 signatures, and speaking on behalf of the Committee, I look forward to considering it at future meetings.

“The Petitions Committee first met in July last year, and since then has considered over 60 petitions.  I am particularly looking forward to the launch of our e-petitions system next week, which will provide petitioners with the facility to post a petition on our website and collect signatures electronically.  We are working hard to reach out to the citizens of Wales and see this as an ideal opportunity to do so.”
