Youngsters bring Christmas to the Senedd ahead of carol concert

06 December

Primary school pupils from across Wales have decorated Christmas trees that will be displayed on the Assembly’s estate during the festive period.

Pupils from Ysgol Tan Y Marian, Colwyn Bay, decorated a tree for the Assembly’s Colwyn Bay office, while Ynys Hir Primary School in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Lisvane Primary School in Cardiff and Baden Powell Primary School, Cardiff, helped the Presiding Officer, Rosemary Butler AM, to decorate the Senedd’s tree by making decorations or helping to hang them up.

“The magic of Christmas looms large particularly for youngsters so it’s only right that children from around Wales help the Assembly mark the festive season,” said Mrs Butler

“Trees decorated by pupils will be on display on the Assembly’s estate so that they can be enjoyed by the wider public.

“The tree in the Senedd will also form the backdrop for the Assembly’s annual carol concert.”

The Assembly’s Christmas Carol Concert will take place in the Neuadd at Midday, on 6 December.

Before the concert begins, at 11.30am, pupils from Baden Powell Primary School will help the Presiding Officer decorate the tree.
