The National Assembly for Wales’ Enterprise and Business Committee and Health and Social Care committee have formed a sub-committee in order to take evidence from interested parties on the Smoke Free Premises etc. (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2012. As part of this inquiry, the Outreach team have been visiting various sites in order to collect the views of the public. A video of the collected views will be produced in order to show to the AMs who sit on the sub-committee what the people of Wales have to say on the matter. In total the Outreach team visited 20 sites across the whole of Wales including Venue Cymru Llandudno, Chapter Arts Institute Cardiff, Aberystwyth and Cardiff Universities Student Unions and Coleg Menai Bangor with a number of people willing to speak to the team and thought that it was a very good idea that the Outreach team were engaging with the people of Wales in this way. Simon from Taff Wells said, “I think it’s fantastic, the fact that they are putting the effort in. The fact that the Assembly is out asking the local people what their views are is fantastic.” Geraint from Anglesey said, “It’s fantastic! I’ve always said myself that if you’re an organisation in Cardiff people in North Wales always say that everything goes to Cardiff, but if the Assembly go out and speak to people then you cannot get any closer than sitting down with them.” As the inquiry progresses detail will appear here.
