As part of our external engagement initiative, Kevin Davies (Outreach and Liaison Manager) participated in one of five events held by the Welsh Local Government Association, in their training sessions for newly-elected Councillors on Thursday, 22nd November 2012 at Swansea Liberty Stadium.
Councillors from the Bridgend and Swansea constituencies were invited to participate in a number of timetabled activities, one of which centred on the issue of engagement with the National Assembly for Wales and indeed their constituents as a whole. Kevin Davies, having been asked the importance of such sessions to newly elected members stated that “the day was an excellent opportunity to inform local representatives how their constituents can get in contact with their AMs and participate in the law-making process. The Assembly very much encourages civic participation at all levels, and any individual in Wales can petition the Assembly with issues they feel strongly about”.
