Welsh Machine Translation - Presiding Officer, Dame Rosemary Butler AM

I am the Presiding Officer of the >National Assembly for Wales and one of my key roles is to ensure that all the people of Wales are able to engage with the Assembly’s work, whether through the Welsh or English language. That’s why we have been working with Microsoft to create a machine translation system to help the Assembly to meet our own language goals. It will also put the Welsh language on the world stage by providing an automatic machine translation system and inclusion in Microsoft Translator solutions and applications available to any user across the globe. Diolch yn fawr iawn i bawb o Microsoft – a big thank you to everyone at Microsoft for helping us to develop this exciting new translation system for the Welsh language, which I believe will not only aid the Assembly in achieving its bilingual goals but also promote the use of Welsh in the wider world.
