The Annual Betty Campbell Monument lecture honours the work of Wales's first black headteacher and champion of equality and diversity.

The lecture examines the areas of life in Wales and beyond that the pioneering educator and community leader worked to improve and promote. 

The guest speaker will be Professor Olivette Otele. An important voice in the UK, Professor Olivette Otele, is an author, a historian, and a Distinguished Professor of the Legacies and Memory of Slavery at SOAS, London University. She is also a Fellow and former Vice-President of the Royal Historical Society.

It also marks the first anniversary of the unveiling of the Betty Campbell Monument in Cardiff.
