Our role

The Senedd Commission serves the Senedd to help facilitate its long-term success as a strong, accessible, inclusive and forward looking parliament that delivers effectively for the people of Wales.

The corporate body for the Senedd is known as the Senedd Commission.

The Commission consists of the Presiding Officer, and four other Members nominated by the main political parties. The staff of the Commission are headed by the Chief Executive and Clerk of the Senedd.

The Government of Wales Act 2006 provides the Senedd with significant powers to legislate, and strengthens its scrutiny role. It also creates a legally separate Welsh Government, and a corporate body which is called the Senedd Commission which has responsibility for the provision of property, staff and services to support the Members of the Senedd.
