Petitions Committee

The Petitions Committee has been set up by the Senedd to consider all petitions that meet our rules of collecting 250 signatures.

The Committee has five Members who come from the different party groups represented in the Senedd, and is chaired by Jack Sargeant MS.

The Senedd’s Petitions website has been updated. For every petition you can now see a 'heatmap' showing where people have been signing that petition. You can see maps based on Constituency or Region. We hope this new feature will be useful to both those creating and signing petitions.
On Wednesday 16 December, the Senedd agreed to amend Standing Orders relating to the number of signatures required in order for a petition to be considered by the Petitions Committee. From January 1 2022, any petition submitted will need to collect 250 signatures in order to be considered by the Committee.
Following the election in Plenary of Jack Sargeant MS as chair of the Petitions Committee on 29 June 2021, the Senedd elected Buffy Williams MS, Joel James MS and Luke Fletcher MS as members of the Petitions Committee on 7 July 2021.
The Committee was established by motion in Plenary on 23 June 2021.
