Inquiry to examine how selling Wales to the world is working

Is brand Wales making waves in markets across the world?  That's the question being asked by a National Assembly Committee inquiry.

The Economy, Infrastructure and Skills Committee today (July 13) launch their Selling Wales to the World inquiry with a call for people with an interest to share their views.

The inquiry will look at:

  • Welsh and UK Government support for exporters, and inward investment;

  • Whether international marketing by Welsh universities could also benefit Wales at the same time;

  • The success of Visit Wales's international marketing activities; and

  • What Brexit will mean for selling Wales abroad.

Committee Chair Russell George AM said:

"With Brexit on the horizon, the First Minister has spoken of the need to 'sell Wales like never before'. The inquiry will also look at what exactly that means. How does Wales sell itself today as a destination for trade, tourism and training?

"Events like the recent UEFA Champions League Final show Wales can have a big impact on the global stage. We want to see what else Wales does well, and what lessons can be learned from similar-sized countries around the world."

Responses can be sent to SeneddEIS@assembly.wales by September 1 2017.  More information about the inquiry can be found on the Committee's web pages or via the Committee's Twitter feed.
